Installing Access Runtime 2010

Access Runtime 2010 Installation Instructions

You must have Microsoft Access 2010 installed on your computer to run the Chabad Management System*. If you don’t have it, you can download Access Runtime 2010. Runtime allows you to run applications that were designed to work with Access.

Important: Do not install Access Runtime 2010 if you have the full version of Microsoft Access. Installing both programs on the same computer may cause a conflict. See Removing Microsoft Access for instructions on how to remove Microsoft Access without removing the rest of Microsoft Office.

  • Click here to go to the 'Microsoft Access Runtime 2010' download page.
  • Click the 'Download files below' link (or scroll down to the 'Files in This Download' section).
  • Click the Download button for 'AccessRuntime.exe'. (do not install AccessRuntime_64.exe even if you are running a 64 bit version of Windows).
  • Save the file to a location of your choice.
(How to save a file varies depending on how your browser saves files. Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome,...)
  • When download is finished, Double-click the file to begin installation.
  • After installation is complete, be sure to run Windows Update and install Service Pack 1 for Office 2010. Click here for details.

NOTE: Some advanced features in CMS will not be available using Access Runtime. These features include the ability to create customized reports, custom queries, database maintenance and troubleshooting.

* The requirement to use Access 2010 is for using CMS version 10.8.24. If you are using an older version of CMS, you can continue using Access 2003 but you are encouraged to update in order to benefit from the latest features.
* The requirement of SP1 for Access 2010 began as of CMS version 11.7.20.
