It is preferable to use option 1. System Restore is a more drastic measure and is not considered a "healthy" practice if it can be avoided.

Regardless of which option you do, due to this automatic update to this component, several times in the last few months, we now recommend that you turn off Automatic Updates for Microsoft Products until we get to the bottom of this issue.
