Installing Access Runtime 2016

Access Runtime 2016 Installation Instructions

You must have Microsoft Access 2016 installed on your computer to run the Chabad Management System. If you don’t have it, you can download Access Runtime. The Runtime version allows you to run applications that were designed to work with Access.

Important: If you have the full version of Office 2007, 2010 or 2013 which includes Access, it is best to first remove Access from within Office before installing Access Runtime 2016. Having different versions of Access on the same computer may cause a conflict. See Removing Microsoft Access 2007/2010/2013 for instructions on how to remove Microsoft Access without removing the rest of Microsoft Office.

  • Click here to go to the 'Microsoft Access Runtime 2016' download page and Click the Download button.
  • Select 'AccessRuntime..._x86_en-us.exe' and click Next
(Do not install AccessRuntime_...x64_en-us.exe even if you are running a 64 bit version of Windows).
  • Save and run the the file to begin the installation.
  • After installation is complete, you may need to install the "Object Error Microsoft Fix." Click here for details.
(Only do this if you are getting the
"object or class..." error and CMS does not start.)
If you have a "Click-to-Run" installation of Office Standard, you need to install Access Runtime with the "Click-to-Run" type installer using this link.

Access Runtime Office 365

In this case as well, be sure to install the 32 version.

You only need to do this if the regular Windows Installation above (MSI) doesn't work because you have a current version of Office installed that uses "Click-to-Run".

NOTE: Some advanced features in CMS will not be available using Access Runtime. These features include the ability to create customized reports, custom queries, database maintenance and troubleshooting.
