Important Update to your Authorize.net Account.

The following applies to those using the Credit Card Processing Integration (CCPI) module. For more information about this module, please see various articles in the Credit Card section of the Knowledge Base.

Customer Information Manager (CIM) is required for the  CCPI module and online forms integration.

Due to the increase in security concerns in storing credit card numbers and other cardholder information, we will in the near future be integrating with Authorize.net's Customer Information Manager (CIM). CIM allows all cardholder information to be saved in Authorize.net and CMS will only store the customerID and profileID.

In order for this to be done in your Authorize.net account, the CIM needs to be activated. While in many cases, Authorize.net would add a monthly charge ($10-20/month) for CIM, we were able to add this feature to your Authorize.net Gateway at no additional cost to you.

However, action is needed on your part.
You need to login to your Authorize.net account and accept the terms and conditions for this feature. It is important that this be done as soon as possible because we are unsure how long this will be available at no cost. In addition, having this feature on your Authorize.net is a must since CMS will no longer be storing sensitive cardholder information (even in encrypted form the way it does presently).

Here are the steps to activate the CIM in your account.

  1. Login to your Authorize.net account.

  2. On the Home page, scroll down and click the the Customer Information Manager (CIM) link.
  3. Click the 'Sign up...' link
  4. Read the Terms and Conditions, check the 'I have read..' check box and click I Agree button
You may notice that the Terms and Conditions include Payment Terms which state that you are agreeing to pay the "Additional Service fees" etc. So I want to reiterate again that there are no fees to add this feature. I confirmed this when adding the CIM to your account.

To verify that the CIM was added to your account successfully, click Account > Merchant Profile. You should see that the Customer Information Manager (CIM) is Enabled.
