Microsoft Patch Tuesday security updates causes errors for CMS

Depending on your version of CMS and Office, the error shows up in either the following when starting CMS:
  • Object or Class does not support the set of events.
  • Error 429
  • Program not opening at all.
This began happening due to an update released by Microsoft on Tuesday January 12 which caused older versions of CMS to no longer open at all, or open with errors the above errors.

To resolve this, please upgrade your CMS to the latest version of CMS.
If your subscription is expired, please renew it prior to installing the latest version.
Please contact tech support if you need help with renewing your subscription.

Keeping an older version of CMS
At this time we know of no way to bring older CMS versions to compatibility with the latest updates from Microsoft.
In our tests, the Microsoft Fix It which worked in the past for a similar issue, does not appear to correct the issue at this time.
If an older version of CMS must be used, the only solution we know of is to roll back the upgrade by Microsoft.
Important, not installing Microsoft Updates may expose a computer to security risks. Rolling back Microsoft Updates may cause your computer to be unstable. We do not take any responsibility for this, rather, we continue to recommend the installation of all Microsoft security updates as well as using the latest version of CMS in order to resolve this issue.
