Getting Started
Prerequisites
  • You must have Microsoft Access 2003 installed in order to run CMS, if you don't have it, see below Access Runtime.
Access 2007 is NOT supported. If you have Access 2007, please follow the steps here to remove it, and then install "Access Runtime" (see below).
Access is part of Office Professional (but not Office standard).
  • If you do not have Access, see below “Access Runtime.”
  • If you are running Access 2003, see below “Macro Security”.
  • Install all service packs and updates from Microsoft. Click www.windowsupdate.com.
Be sure to run to install “Microsoft Update” which checks for and installed updates for both Windows and Office.
  • Networking multiple computers: See www.chabadms.com/files/nsi.pdf for detailed network setup instructions.

Installation Instructions

  • If you installed any demos of CMS on your computer, uninstall them. You also should delete the Sample Data File from the “C:\Program Files\Chabad Management System\Sample Data” and/or the “C:\Chabad Management System\Sample Data” folder(s).
  • Download and install the latest update to CMS from www.chabadms.com/download.htm. (The “update” IS the full version).
  • Download and unzip your CMS Data File into the “My Documents\CMS\Data” folder. The name of this file is “CMS.mdb” (you may not see the “.mdb” extension.) If you did not receive your CMS Data file, please contact tech support.
Multi-User installation: The location of the data file should be on a server or shared folder.
  • Double-click the shortcut on your desktop to start CMS.
  • When prompted for the CMS Data File, choose it from the “My Documents\CMS” folder(or from the mapped drive, mapping to the server (see www.chabadms.com/files/nsi.pdf)).
  • Call 626 791-7072 x 3 to register.

Access Runtime

You need to have Microsoft Access 2003 installed on your computer to run the Chabad Management System. If you don’t have it, you can download Access Runtime. Runtime allows you to run applications that were designed to work with Access.

Do not install Access Runtime if you have Microsoft Access. Installing both programs on the same computer may cause a conflict.

Download times depend and the speed of your connection. It takes about 10 minutes with a DSL/Cable connection.

  • Click here to begin download of Access Runtime.
  • In the File Download window, click Save.
  • Select a folder in which to save the file and Click Save.
  • When download is finished, click Open or locate the file manually. Extract the contents of the zip file into a temporary folder.
  • In the temporary folder, double-click 'ACCESSRT.MSI' to begin installation.

NOTE: Some advanced features in CMS will not be available using Access Runtime. These features include the ability to create customized reports, custom queries, database maintenance and troubleshooting.
